2018’s Most Popular Residential Window Styles
Spring is finally here and that means home remodeling and home improvement season. If you’ve had replacement windows on your list of Things To Do, then it’s time to start doing some research on what type of residential windows will look and function best on your home. This year, our window replacement specialists have noticed a trend in different window styles compared to last year. So, if you’re in the market for new windows, here are 2018’s most popular styles.
Popular Window Styles for Homes
Double Hung Windows. Double hung windows are a versatile window option for homes. They still offer the same great look and feel as single hung windows, but instead of only being opened from the bottom, double hung can be opened from both the top and the bottom. Double hung windows also allow for more air flow throughout the day; in the morning when the breeze is light, opening the bottom portion is best, while in the evening when the breeze picks up, opening the window from the top is ideal.
Garden Windows. We’ve seen an increased interest in garden windows lately — and we’re so happy they’re gaining popularity throughout New Hampshire! Garden windows are cube-shaped windows that protrude from your home in order to allow more light through the window. Garden windows are ideal for kitchens and for homeowners who keep small indoor house plants or potted herbs that require sunlight all year long.
Bow Windows. Unlike bay windows that require three sides of windows, bow windows can be more than three sides. The most popular number of sides for a bow window is 4, 5, 0r 6 depending on how large the space is. Bow windows are becoming increasingly popular in master bedrooms, living rooms and even dining rooms. Many homeowners also opt to create benches with storage at the base of their bow windows to create a cozy outcrop.
Slider Windows. Once just a popular window option in Europe, slider windows are our best-seller this season — and for good season. Slider windows are affordable to install and are easy to operate, making them an ideal choice for bedrooms. Keep in mind that slider windows are more horizontal than vertical, so the right amount of space is needed to install this style of window.
